Michael Coffey Rare Pair of Hand-Carved Stools in Walnut 2007 (Signed)
-
Description
Rare pair of “Belle of the Ball Stools” in hand-carved and sculpted American black walnut blocks by Michael Coffey, American 2007 (each is signed "MCoffey" on underside of seat). Each stool is slightly different in design, making both a unique piece. Michael Coffey was a craftsman and an artist who sculpted superb shapes in wood. In the tradition of George Nakashima, Wendell Castle, and Jack Rogers Hopkins, Coffey's handmade, unique works combine the sculptural forms of nature with a deep appreciation for the intrinsic beauty of wood. The design of the seats and back raised edge makes them very comfortable.
