Rocking Chair by Anton Fix and Micheal Thonet, 1850s
-
Description
Very rare rocking chair made and designed by Micheal Thonet and Anton Fix , circa 1860.
The beautiful rocking chair was made with curved woodworking, a technique that sees the wood treated with steam to ensure that it can bend, and that was tested and used primarily by Micheal Thonet.
The Anton Fix rocking chair has a solid structure totally made of wood of golden color, curved and harmonious lines, on the sides we find beautiful carved wood carvings. Its peculiarity is also in the padding of the back, seat and armrests with burgundy fabric and the draping of two angels with a crown of flowers.
The Anton Fix and Micheal Thonet chair was made in the periods before the popularity of the two artists, so it is really a rare piece. It is ideal to place in the corner of an important living room, or in a large midcentury style loft. -
