Description
This vintage sculptural "Djinn" chaise longue in Ivory boucle is an iconic design by the renowned French designer, Olivier Mourgue. It is named after the supernatural djinni (genie) of the Koran. It became particularly famous after furnishing the futuristic rotating Hilton in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). The low height of this seating mirrors the informal lifestyle of the mid-century period. Newly restored and reupholstered in a Pierre Frey ivory boucle. This piece is on display at the Gallery at 200 Lex at the New York Design Center. The complete measurements are 66" long x 24.5" wide x 25" high at the highest point by headrest x 17" at footrest x 9" at the bottom of seat in center.
