Description
This is an exceptional pair of early 19th century George IV open arm chairs in the Gothick style. Each back rail stamped TH. The chairs were sold at old Christie's Sydney, 9 December 2003, lot 272 and were acquired from an important private Beverly Hills Collection. The chairs are structurally sound. The seats have been re-canned with new swab cushions. Three uprights at the top of the chairs have been broken and repaired. One back leg broken and repaired, splice line visible. The gilt and ebonized decoration is in overall original condition with scattered areas of wear and retouching. Typical dents, dings, and surface scratches overall.

There are a few old barely visible professional restorations. The seats have been recaned and there are very minor touch ups tot he original surface.
