  • Description
Characterised by its bold geometric shapes, rich materials, and luxurious aesthetics, Art Deco transformed the way we perceive interior spaces. It was a testament to the fusion of form and function, and this ethos is beautifully exemplified in this pair of exquisite armchairs.

The designers of the era sought to break away from the traditional and embrace opulent forms and shapes, while still maintaining focus on the cosiness and comfort of the pieces. These armchairs are no exception: fully upholstered in a luxurious fabric, epitomising the essence of comfort and style. The chairs also boast a beautiful, almost sculptural form, with generous curves that evoke the high-end craftsmanship of a period that’s steeped in old-school glamour. With gently rounded edges, the chairs have a stylish flow to them. This is enhanced by the scalloped backs and the dark wood, which is used to inlay the edges. This pair of armchairs can give any space a distinct look thanks to the beautiful contrast between materials and colours, which allows them to stand out. The chairs sit on sculpted wooden feet, which mirror the scalloped design of the backrests; quality craftsmanship was evidently of optimum importance for the cabinetmaker who created this pair.

Art Deco was a modern art style that attempted to infuse functional objects with artistic touches. The movement is different from the fine arts, as the art object has practical purpose or use beyond providing an interesting look. With this ideal in mind, these armchairs provide not only visual pleasure, but also great sitting comfort and functionality.‎
