-
Description
A pair of French Louis XVI style painted wood, parcel-gilt bergères chairs from the early 20th century with soft yellow green double welt upholstery, scrolled arms, carved foliage and fluted legs. Created in France at the Turn of the Century which saw the transition between the 19th to the 20th, this pair of bergères showcases the stylistic characteristics of the Louis XVI era. Each chair is adorned with a light color painted finish accented with gilded details. The backs are each carved with tied foliage, petite beads and a delicate ribbon at the top. The arms present scrolled knuckles. The chairs are upholstered with a soft yellow green double welt fabric in relatively good used condition, with imperfections. The ensemble is raised on four tapering legs with fluted motifs, adorned with carved medallions on the knees. These motifs are echoed on the skirt's three sides. With their elegant lines and complimenting colors, this pair of French Louis XVI style bergère chairs circa 1900 will make for a wonderful addition to any living room or bedroom!
