Sold Sold
  • Description

The chair and ottoman are in excellent original condition, they both are upholstered in a reddish fabric which is clean and free of rips or holes however signs of wear is noticeable and they may need to be reupholstered.

    The pieces are labeled "Artifort."

The Ribbon chair is among one of the most comfortable chairs ever. The bold contoured form allows the user to assume a variety of positions while retaining the necessary support. A professional, innovative vision on the well-known ribbon form. A beautiful example of applied art, the ribbon is one of the most beautiful chairs as well.

Pierre Paulin studied stone carving and clay modeling at the Ecole Camondo in Paris in the early fifties where he began designing furniture for Thonet. In 1958, he became the designer for Artifort where he created a series of sculptural chairs with an inner structure of steel tubing, covered in foam and fabric. In 1968, Paulin collaborated with Le Mobilier National and received many important government commissions including furniture and interiors for the Elysee Palace in Paris. He also designed home appliances.

Please note that we advise upholstering the Ribbon chair in Tonus 3 or Momentum. Other fabrics may cause a number of pleats to appear, which cannot be avoided.
