RARE QUEEN ANNE SIDE CHAIR WITH ROUNDED STILES AND A FLAT STRETCHER
Boston Circa 1745
Primary Wood: Walnut
Secondary Wood: Maple
Height: 41 ¾ inches
Width: 21 inches
Depth: 16 ¾ inches
Reference: The side chair is a very rare form. There is an armchair with the same unusual characteristics – the central cyma shaped flat stretcher joined to block and turned side stretchers, rounded stiles, and a square seat with shaped front and side aprons – formerly in the C. K. Davis Collection. It is illustrated in American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection, Volume IV, pages 1320 – 1321.
