A hand-carved walnut open armchair with 'X' or flat curule-form stretchers joining its four legs; made during the period between the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV (1715-1723), when Philippe d'Orleans was Regent. Tablet-back crest rail and serpentine seat front.

Five decades of antiques collecting experience in a succession of Historic Register homes in Virginia, New York, and Connecticut; and a 1901 beaux arts building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Open Thursday through Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment. -
