Description
Set of eight antique English late Victorian chairs
English, c.1880
Height 87cm, width 46cm, depth 48cm
These excellent chairs were crafted in the late nineteenth century in Victorian England, and exemplify the style and sophistication of the time. Elegantly and uniformly carved, they are made of hardwood, with a small wicker-net on the seat, and their carving and decoration is embellished with hints of a grand Neoclassical style, such as the central rosettes, the Ionic scrolls across the top, and the general geometry of their design. Coming with small and fitted cushions, they are both a fine antique set, and a beautiful collection of highly functional Victorian pieces. -
