Description This rare chair was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen for the iconic Radiohuset building in Copenhagen in the 1950s. The chair was specifically designed for the orchestra musicians to be seated comfortably in the building's concert hall. An archival image of the concert hall with the chairs in the background is shown in the last image of this listing.

The striking frame is made of solid oakwood with brass feet. The chair retains its original moss green wool upholstery, which has been very well preserved. The seat and two backrests can be adjusted individually to suit specific needs of comfort.

Radiohuset (literally "The Radio House") is the former headquarters of national Danish broadcaster DR, located in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. The building complex was inaugurated in 1945 to a functionalist design by Vilhelm Lauritzen. The materials used for the building were very exclusive, ranging from Greenland marble on the façades to a dark mahogany interior. Lamps and furniture were designed specifically for the building. The young Finn Juhl was working for Vilhelm Lauritzen at that time. Like Arne Jacobsen’s finest buildings of the era, the building is a gesamtkunstwerk.
