18th c. Swedish Baroque Period Painted Armoire Cabinet

Description
An important and richly carved Swedish armoire cabinet from the Baroque period with handsome bun feet. Provenance on the inside of the left door, dates the piece to 1772 (Anno 1772). On the inside of the right door is the name of the owner (Gustaf Hi Smitt). Original lock and hardware. Beautifully proportioned with a shaped pediment cornice. Charming carved cherub heads and carved diamond detailing on the door fronts with molding detail on the sides. Inside there are two removable shelves. The large doors sit above two drawers. Working lock and drawers. This is a rare piece with plenty of storage potential. As often is the case with these fine 18th century pieces, the cabinet disassembles into nine pieces for ease of transport.
