18th c. Vernacular Chippendale Welsh Dresser
-
Description
A vernacular three drawer low dresser or sideboard with a great presence. Made of richly colored oak by a regional country craftsman basing styling on London furniture designs then in vogue, including ogee molded edged top over shaped apron with drop finials and sprauncy cabriole legs. A wonderfully quirky piece illustrating the spread of fashion from town to country. Wonderful in an entrance hall, kitchen, dining room or along the back of a sofa. Available with or without the original delft rack (shown in photos).
