Description
Fine and unusual 18th century chinoiserie decorated cabinet, the arched crest surmounted by two gilt wood finials over two doors retaining original mercury glass plates, the base with paneled doors with scalloped linen drawers, the interior decorated in scarlet and gilt lacquer with painted figures in traditional costume, and the exterior with gilt and polychrome decoration on a black ground, also with multiple costumed figures, including a water buffalo. A dramatic and elegant piece.
