Description
This elegant and early Austrian Biedermeier secretaire was made circa 1825-30.
The Secretaire is an example of beautiful, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship. Austrian Biedermeier pieces are distinguished by their sophisticated proportions and continue to have a great influence on modern design.
Solid walnut and bookmatched walnut and maple veneer with ebonized detail.
The piece has beautiful maple, mirrored gallery with six drawers, secret compartments and writing ebonized surface.
This Biedermeier secretaire contains rare painted detailing in a technique called schwarzlot ink.
The secretaire have beautiful highly figured walnut veneer with lovely light deep amber color and 200 years old patina.
All brass hardware and locks are original.
French polish finish.

Measures: H: 61 1/2 inches, W: 35 1/2 inches, D: 18 inches.
