Chippendale Block-Front Bureau
Massachusetts, ca. 1760-1775.
Mahogany, white pine secondary wood.
Over-all in excellent condition, retaining original brass.
Provenance: Descended through the Draper family to present day, Boston, Massachusetts.
The masterful quality and bold character of this fine bureau is achieved with the perfect integration of its component parts, such as the outer edge of the blocking continuing onto the ogee bracket feet and the rounded blocking conforming to the returns and base molding. The bureau is further complimented with wonderful figured mahogany, large willow brass (original) and compact case with dynamic proportions.
