Massachusetts, ca. 1770-1785. Walnut, white pine secondary.
Over-all in excellent condition, retaining original brasses, some shrinkage cracks on the side, old mellow finish.

In a wonderful, compact size, the Chippendale desk opens to an amphitheater interior with a shell carved drawer flanked by columns and shaped valances. The case is fitted with four graduated drawers supported by carved ball and claw feet with a center, carved shell-motif drop pendant.
