Dutch Empire Style Mahogany Linen Press
-
Description
This outstanding Dutch linen press is a testament to the ambitions of the cabinetmaker. Bookmatched mahogany animates the outside surfaces, framed and enriched by the columnar pilasters referencing Neoclassical architecture. Prominent claw feet in polychrome are a fabulous counterpoint to the restrained sophistication elsewhere in this piece. Four drawers in the upper cabinet, three drawers with acanthus-themed ring pulls at the base. A working lock and key secures the cabinet doors, the same key will also lock the middle drawer only.
