-
Description
A handsome secretary from the 1800’s is made of mahogany with inlay details. The top cabinet has two glass-front bookcase doors with original glass and working lock and key, revealing three, 10 ¾” deep adjustable shelves inside. Below the pair of glass doors is what appears to be a large drawer that converts to a drop down leather-top writing surface. The interior includes 9 drawers and 6 open compartments of various sizes for storing correspondences and writing instruments, its gold-trimmed black leather is the ideal surface for writing letters. The lower cabinet doors feature circular inlay and open to reveal three 20 ¼” deep pull-out shelves, much like a linen press, and secured with a separate lock & key. Cleaned, tightened and polished, this antique is ready to use. Please view the detailed images to appreciate the top quality in this piece.
