French 1800s Blue Grey Louis XV Style Two-Door Buffet with Distressed Finish
-
Description
A French Louis XV style painted wood two-door, two-drawer buffet with floral motifs and distressed finish from the early 19th century. Born in the early years of the 19th century, at a time when Bonaparte was about to crown himself emperor and become Napoléon I, this French buffet features a rectangular planked top sitting above two small drawers flanking a central bouquet of flowers in a wicker basket. Two doors below are each adored in their upper corner with scrolled foliage, accenting the curves of the molding beautifully. The doors open to reveal two inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The skirt, exquisitely scalloped on three sides, is decorated with a delicately carved medallion in its centre. The buffet is raised on four feet, the front ones being scrolled and the back ones being straight. With its lovely grey blue distressed paint and clean lines, this French two-door buffet, circa 1800 will be a wonderful addition to any living or dining room, foyer or kitchen.
