French 19th Century Solid Fruitwood Buffet
-
Description
This beautiful, 19th Century Louis Philippe style fruitwood buffet is remarkable for the luminous wood tones and grain patterning on the doors & drawers. The top planks have a soft texture that complements the honey-gold color, bearing the evidence of two centuries of patina. Within the frieze is a bank of three drawers: the left and right drawers open by turned wood knobs, whereas the center drawer retains a working lock & key. Below the drawers are two paneled doors that represent each half of the (divided) storage cabinet. Each locking compartment offers a fixed shelf, 15 ⅞” deep, sharing a key between the two doors. Shaped bracket feet support the whole. Cleaned and polished with a paste wax, this antique is sure to anchor any room and will fit many interior design aesthetics. The original manufacturer’s label on the back from Beziers (France) is still legible. Please view the detailed images to see more.
