A French late 18th century cherry armoire from Rennes with pierced cornice, floral and shell motifs. Born in the capital of the eastern region of Brittany, this French cherry armoire features a striking double arched cornice adorned with delicate pierced volutes flanking a central rosette-carved motif and sitting above stylized foliage. Two exquisite doors, adorned with molded curving panels accented with shells and delicate flowers, open to reveal inner shelves offering ample storage opportunities. The armoire is raised on four short feet, scrolled in the front and connected to one another through a scalloped skirt, decorated with a large carved medallion in the front. With its richly carved décor and great patina, this late 18th century cherry armoire from Rennes will bring a graceful presence to any home, particularly in a bedroom or living room.
