Rare and Large rationalist sideboard attributed to G. Terragni brass handles

$ 32,479
  • Description
    Rare and majestic, this large Italian sideboard from the 1920s, attributed to the influential architect Giuseppe Terragni, is a true work of art of rationalist design, deeply inspired by the aesthetic codes of European Bauhaus. Its stage presence is powerful and sophisticated, a perfect balance of form, function and innovation, capable of catching the eye and telling a memorable page in the history of Italian design.

    From the first glance, the cabinet is striking for its imposing and rational structure, articulated in several compartments that gradually reveal themselves, as in a refined game of applied architecture. On the sides, two large opening doors are embellished with tubular brass handles, elegant in their simplicity, enriched with original keys for closing the compartments: a precious detail that underlines its authenticity and design care.

    The central part opens up to new surprises: three central drawers, also equipped with brass handles, flank two additional interior doors, generating a play of volumes and full-empty that makes the composition extremely refined. But it is inside the side doors that the sideboard reveals all its versatility and functional richness.
    On the left side, one discovers a series of small cloth- or velvet-lined drawers designed to store the family silverware, each fitted with delicate knobs. Below, a storage compartment provides additional space for organization. The other doors house functional shelves, while one of the last doors flips open, transforming into a small bar area when needed, ideal for welcoming guests with style and sophistication.

    Each element has been carefully and masterfully designed: the brass handles, with their semicircular tubular shape, are a clear reference to the functional and modernist Bauhaus aesthetic, but revisited through the Italian craftsmanship sensibility of the time. The fine wood essences, the careful finishes, and the presence of niches designed for everyday use make this furniture not only an object of rare beauty, but also a concentration of ingenuity, function and elegance.

    This sideboard is not simply a piece of furniture, but a historical testimony of absolute value. Created in one of the most fertile moments for design culture, between Italian Rationalism and the revolutionary echo of the Bauhaus, it embodies the ambition of an era that sought the perfect synthesis of art, architecture and utility.

    A piece of furniture for true connoisseurs, for collectors, architects and lovers of historical design, who wish to bring into their homes a unique piece, capable of dialoguing with the present and powerfully telling the story of the great season of European modernism.
