-
Description
An Italian Turn of the Century Neoclassical style pine bookcase from the early 20th century with arched motifs, carved dentil, Corinthian and Doric capitals, fluted pilasters and molded doors. Created in Italy during the early years of the 20th century, this bookcase captures our attention with its tall linear silhouette and delicately carved décor. The bookcase is topped with a molded cornice sitting above a dentil molding followed by an ovoid frieze. This upper section is made of two Classical rounded arches accented with elongated Corinthian capitals topping fluted pilasters. This section is made of open shelves offering convenient display opportunities for books and decorative objects. The lower part is made of two doors adorned with molded panels and flanked with smaller Doric style pilasters, in a progression typical of the Classical order. The ensemble is resting on a plinth with protruding accents while the sides are sans décor. With its Classical lines, tall proportions and natural patina, this Italian pine bookcase circa 1900 will be a great focal point in any living room or study!.
