Jules Lelu 1940s Cabinet Signed
-
Description
This important 1940s cabinet by Jules Leleu shows him at the very height of his artistry and skill in constructing the most exceptional furniture of the period. The finely balanced form consists of bevels, sections framed with mouldings, and accented brass banding at the top and bottom of the body of the cabinet, drawing classical lines across the matched grain of the surface.
Beautiful glass rods are held in by rounded brass flattened against each door as if pressed on to the wood, serving as handles, beautifully and simply; while the elegant feet are shoed in scrolled, bronze sabots. Inside, are three shelves with a discrete drawer below the middle shelf, a larger lower section, and on the right door: a small, lightened rectangle where the wood bears the signature of Jules Leleu. - More Information
