    Karges Louis XV Bombe Serpentine Bowfront Chest of Drawers in Walnut, Late 20thC

    Offered for sale is a late 20th-century Karges Furniture Company Louis XV Bombe Chest Inspired by a metropolitan Paris piece, ca. 1755. This chest employs low-relief scroll and leaf carvings on drawers with a center cartouche, a lock, and an escutcheon. The front is both serpentine and bombe. The posts reiterate the cartouche with a center cabochon like the drawers. The chest is hand-carved of walnut solids with walnut veneers. The metal maker's tag is found within a drawer as shown and the drawers are dovetailed. This piece is hand-made to order from Karges with a trade cost of over $22K with a production lead time of 12-14 weeks. This is a fresh estate find from Key Biscayne, FL in great condition from the home of the original owner who acquired it new.
