Rare Custom Apothecary Style Rosewood Tall & Narrow Dresser by Svend Langkilde
-
Description
Designed by Danish icon Svend Langkilde, this cabinet was manufactured in the 1950s by his own company, Langkilde Mobler. This is the first and only cabinet of its kind that has ever made its way into the public eye, making this very rare at worst and unique at best. I've had it in my personal collection for many years. It seems to call back to the 1920s and the end of the popularity of classical design, reminiscent of an apothecary cabinet, but even taller and narrower. This piece towers at [height], while fitting into a very slim footprint, making it surprisingly practical in the right setting. It features a finish of rosewood with incredible and dynamic high-contrast grain, with accents of solid turned rosewood, such as the pulls on the drawers and flaps. It also features a rare leather writing surface in the flap, perfect for use in a pinch. Construction is excellent, up to Danish standards, standing proud, tall, and stable after over half a century.
In very good original condition. Was clearly never used very much, but nevertheless, signs of use exist. No breaks or repairs, and all drawers slide smoothly and everything functions as it should. You will love this cabinet virtually anywhere in your home or project. -
