Paolo Buffa wall-mounted ribbed credenza in patinated, brass and glass, by master woodmaker Serafino Arrighi, 1950's
What stands out in this small wall mounted credenza is the ribbed surface, the rounded forms and the not unimportant detail: the key. The key is very typical for the work of Paolo Buffa and also the relief on the front of the two doors; The ribbed surface. Master wood worker Serafino Arrighi was specialised in making such ribbed panels and you can see it back in much of his work. (see the other Paolo Buffa high credenza's in our collection). The ribs create an extra aspect in contrast to the smooth surfaces and if the light is good somewhere during the day it always gives an extra dimension. Not everything in a room should be smooth, we like some restistance and countershapes don't we?!
This piece will definitely add something extra to the room because you can clearly see that someone has been working on this credenza for weeks. A real piece of Italian craftsmanship and we are proud that we can enlarge our Buffa collection with this piece of art.
