Description
A fine miniature William and Mary 17th-century diminutive walnut chest. From the reign of King William & Queen Mary (1688-1702), England.
The cross-grain moulded top sits over three walnut veneered oak-lined drawers, each fitted with brass star backplates and bifurcated scroll handles and shield-shaped escutcheons. Raised on walnut bun feet.
It should be noted that miniature or ‘toy’ chests from 17th-century England are extremely rare

The colour and patination is superb. The handles and escutcheons appear to be original. Minor historic restoration.
