Swedish Baroque Period 1760 Painted Two-Part Cabinet with Four Doors
-
Description
A Swedish Baroque period painted wood two-part cabinet from the mid 18th century, with angular pediment, four doors, inner shelves and ogee bracket feet. Created in Sweden during the Baroque period in the third quarter of the 18th century, this painted cabinet is made of two parts. The upper cabinet, of narrow dimensions, features an eye-catching pediment sitting above two doors carved with beveled accents following the pediment's lines. These doors open to reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. The lower section, deeper in proportions, showcases additional doors and inner shelves. The cabinet is painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Scandinavia. The ensemble is raised on ogee bracket feet whose sinuous lines compliment the linearity of the piece beautifully. With its tall proportions and Baroque lines, this Swedish painted two-part cabinet circa 1760 will make for a great focal point in any home, placed in a living room or bedroom!.
