18th C. Large Provincial Plank Topped Dining Room Table. British Circa 1790
-
Description
18th century, hard to find large size and solidly well made Georgian provincial dining table made in England, circa 1790. This triple plank hardwood top comfortably accommodates 10 dining chairs with it's 9' 6" length and 40" width, along with a 30" height and center horizontal trestle (rather than perimeter trestle), allows for moving chairs all the way in and under the table. The table top rests on an oak base consisting of a 4" apron; four, block and trumpet turned and tapered legs, connecting to a visibly period worn trestle, running the length of the table and connecting to cross trestles at the top. The original surface all around with scrubbed top natural finish and patina to the top.
Note: The last image shown is to indicate scale and proportion by placing (10) fairly large dining chairs around the dining table. They are available separately.
Provenance: My own personal table for 30 years having acquired from a Marin County California estate in 1995.
