Description
A desirable Welsh thick top cricket table having good nutty color and patina with 1"+ thick circular oak top over three tapering chamfered legs with through-tenon connections. A sculptural and useful piece of furniture. Notably branded J. Carr, an early owner of the table, possibly James Carr, a Wesleyan minister, whose descendants include among others a prominent British newspaper owner of the News of the World, a High Sheriff of Glamorgan, a World War II RAF hero who died during the war, and Dame Sue Carr, the current Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales.
