18th Century George III Sheraton Server

$ 12,500
  • Description
    A George III Sheraton period satinwood server crossbanded in Goncalo Alves (Albueron) inlaid ebony lines, circa 1795-1810. Goncalo Alves or Albueron wood was favoured by the firm of Gillows, first as a banding and later as a principal wood. It was imported from the Portuguese colony of Brazil. Interestingly, this serving table in West Indian satinwood appears to have acquired the single long drawer as an after thought during construction, the framework being extended before veneering. Beautiful patina.
