9975 UNUSUAL MAHOGANY GEORGE III OCTAGONAL CENTER TABLE WITH ILLUSIONISTIC CUBE PARQUETRY TOP IN THE MANNER OF HENRY HILL OF MARLBOROUGH English. Circa 1800. Measurements: Height: 28 3/4″ (73 cm) Width 42″ (106.7 cm) Depth: 35 1/2″ (90 cm)
Of mahogany and boxwood. The octagonal top veneered with a field of illusionistic cube parquetry within a crosbanded border. The frieze set with eight line-inlaid and crossbanded drawers each centered by a finely cast gilt-brass leopard drop handle. The four square tapering legs carved with horizontal fluting and each with connecting pierced brackets. The lower legs with long gilt-brass acanthine mounts. Each leg terminating in a flattened gilt-brass ball foot. -
