    A fine Louis XVI style gilt-bronze mounted mahogany kingwood and malachite table De Salon in the manner of Jean-Henri riesener. With malachite inset rounded corner top, above a frieze drawer, the angles with outscrolled acanthus chutes on tapering legs terminating by laurel-sheathed sabots.

    The present model is closely related to a writing table supplied in 1771 by the celebrated ébéniste Jean-Henri Riesener reçu maître en 1768 for Queen Marie-Antoinette at the Petit Trianon in Versailles.

    Jean-Henri Riesener (1734-1806) was a German "ébeniste" cabinet maker. The favorite cabinet-maker of Marie-Antoinette and official "ébéniste du roi, Cabinetmaker to French King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Celebrated and recognized for his work of the Neoclassical period. Riesener and other cabinetmakers working in the Neoclassical style also used delightful mythological allegorical scene to embellish secretaries, commodes, and tables.
