Art Deco Greek Key Cocktail Table in Black Lacquer by Paul Frankyl
-
Description
This refined and graphic cocktail table was realized by the great Paul Frankl in the United States circa 1947. It features a stylized and abstracted Greek Key motif in black lacquer. The table suggests a three sided rectangle with an open bottom, whose sides wrap inwards, and briefly ascend creating this dynamic form. With oblique references to classicism and also eastern design (specifically chinoiserie, which was popular at the time), this piece blends beautifully with design elements from all different places and time periods. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. it has been newly restored to mint condition.
