Carl Malmsten 'Berg' Three Legged Side Table in Masur Birch, Sweden, 1950s
-
Description
This elegant side table was designed by Carl Malmsten in 1936 as part of his 'Berg' series of three-legged tables. This example was produced by Carl Malmsten in the early 1950s. The round table has a top in a beautifully veneered Masur birch wood. The marquetry of the veneer consists of a multigonal shape starting from the centre of the table, enclosed by a round border of birch veneer with a slightly different wood grain. This creates a refined and distinct effect. The top is supported by a central column base, ending in three curved legs. The column and legs are in solid birch wood.
The table is in very good original condition with minimal wear.
Branded with the designer's initials 'CM' on the bottom of the top. -
