Description
A Particularly Rare English Chippendale Period Mahogany Silver Table of Unique Design in the most wonderful original condition. It would be difficult to argue against this table being the work of a master craftsman and designer of the George II Period.
Of note is the intricate Gothic Mitre Fretted four sided gallery bordering a veneered mahogany top with the most flamboyant figuring . The whole standing upon four tapering square legs the top of which have inlays with a four leaf satinwood flower design , supported by a string of tapering bell like wheatsheaf inlays. Each leg is finished at ground level with a block with a strong concave shaping.
Separate to the main stucture , there is fretted and pierce under frame gallery to all four sides which in turn proceeds down the legs for seven inches. All these features make this a remarkable rare specimen of English Eighteenth Century Cabinet Making.
Condition.....Wonderful dry state due to being waxed for the last two hundred and fifty years without repolishing, having the most glorious patination.
Remarks.... .A gem of a table and suitable for the earnest collector.
Provenance being from a English Collection of repute .......See Dumfries House for similar inlays.
Dimensions.... Height Top 28ins , Gallery 30ins ......... Length 31 ins.......Depth 22 ins
