A Santo Domingo mahogany topped and leafed small dining, breakfast, or library table; with a very finely and profusely hairy- carved pedestal and four legs ending in animal paws on casters. With leaves down its top measures 40 inches x 29 inches. With leaves up and open to 56 inches x 40 inches, it comfortably seats four. From an astute private collector with homes in both the North and South, it is attributed to the NYC shop of Deming and Bulkley. No label has been found. Similarly carved pedestals have been found in Charleston and other Southern locales; where Deming and Bulkley furniture was highly prized.
