Swedish Empire Neoclassical Console with Marble Top
-
Description
Stunning Gustavian style console table dating to the early 19th century Empire period. Painted white with blue accents, this antique table features a carved scene of mythical griffins guarding a neoclassical urn. Whimsical floral motifs, like scrolling acanthus leaves and rosette medallions, add interest to this classic Swedish piece inspired by the French Empire style. Supported by ornate fluted legs with stretcher topped with a neoclassical urn at the base. The original white marble top has dramatic veins throughout its smooth surface. An eye-catching console for the entryway, living room or dining room for the new traditional home. Sweden, circa 1810.
