English 19th Century Satinwood Pedestal Desk
-
Description
This a very attractive and uncommon mid-19th century satinwood double pedestal desk. True 19th century satinwood is an expensive, very desirable and rare. Satinwood is fine grained, but figured, and is used principally in veneer work and in inlay. The combination of the the pale satinwood drawers and sides outlined with graphic faux ebony together with the scrolling detailed inlay creates a unique piece with great visual interest. The desk has been lightly restored with the normal shrinkage cracks closed; the desk has been polished. The gorgeous leather top (an old replacement) is in very good condition. Currently the drawers must be opened with a key; we have ordered appropriate 19th century-style pulls. Additional photos will be posted when the pulls have been installed.
