Antique Louis XV Style Ormolu Mounted Marble and Parquetry Table by L’Escalier de Cristal

This superb piece is an antique ormolu mounted Louis XV style table, masterfully crafted with kingwood, tulipwood, and parquetry, by the famed Parisian firm L'Escalier de Cristal. The green marble top is set within a stepped surround, atop the parquetry decoration which forms a circular frieze, centred on each face by a gilded bearded face. The table is placed on cabriole legs, which are joined below by a similarly inlaid lower-tier. The piece is finished by gilt acanthus paw-feet. This excellent table comprises an elegant contrast in marble and wood, and the multiple materials and textures combine to create a sophisticated and stylish piece, constituting some of the very best work by Parisian craftsmen from this time.
