Federal Pembroke Table
New York, ca. 1800-1815
Mahogany, poplar and tiger maple (fly rails) secondary wood
Condition: Excellent, original brass. Minor imperfections.
This exceptional example of a New York Pembroke drop-leaf, one drawer table has many fine attributes. The selection of figured mahogany and mahogany veneer is highlighted by fine detailed inlay patterns. The top has a concave molded edge above a bow-front case with a drawer supported by tapered legs with inlaid cuffs. The top and case are embellished with fine line-inlay patterns while the legs have “book-end” inlay patterns above graduated “husk” inlay. These patterns are distinct features found in New York cabinetry during the Federal periods.
