Pietro Chiesa designed side table with cast glass disc with inset Italian Walnut disc mounted on black lacquered mahogany base.
The glass top is cast in such a way as to create a prism effect when lit from above.
The thick beveled edge serves as focus devise.
An intentional design factor and Very cool detail.
According to a Christie's listing for this table Pietro Chiesa designed the table in 1938 for Fontana Arte of Milano but it was not manufactured by Fontana Arte until 1948 the year of his death.
The table is in excellent vintage condition.
