Antique French ormolu mounted marquetry tea table by Linke
French, late 19th Century

This fine satinwood tea table is made by the highly celebrated Parisian cabinetmaker Francois Linke (French, 1855-1946). The table features a glass tray of rectangular shape which sits upon ormolu supports in acathus leaf form, which themselves are mounted onto the upper part of the table. The table is of oval form, and features a wooden parquetry tabletop, surrounded by a beaded ormolu mount. Around the edges of the tabletop is a frieze of foliate marquetry, which is intersected at the four corners by acanthus leaf form ormolu mounts, which extend down the lengths of the cabriole form legs, leading to four ormolu paw feet. Suspended between the lower legs is an oval form shelf which is mounted to the edges with ormolu. The ormolu rim of the lower shelf is signed 'F. Linke'. - More Information
