Danish Teak and Brass "Pinwheel" Segmented Coffee Table by Peter Hvidt
-
Description
Set of six 'crescent-form' Model 523 side tables designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France and Daverkosen (ca. 1953, Denmark - early edition pre-France & Son which produced these tables almost a decade later in 1962).
Segments are teak supported by brass legs. Complete set, offering a variety of arrangement options, but most commonly configured as a round coffee table resembling a pinwheel. Additionally, the tables are all from the same, original set (not piecemeal-assembled from various productions to create a complete set), which explains the cohesion, richness and vivid grain of the early teak.
Newly refinished condition, though light wears remain (scuffs, as shown). Legs are naturally patinated and unpolished.
Embossed manufacturer's mark present to each table along with a "John Stuart" metal medallion (importer).
Each table measures H: 17" x L: 25.5” x D: 18.5”.
The diameter in a circular formation is 51". -
