French 1750s Walnut Library Table with Carved Drawers and Original Hardware
-
Description
A French mid 18th century walnut library table of the Louis XV period with two drawers and original hardware. Born during the reign of King Louis XV, this French walnut table offers a stark contrast with the Rococo silhouettes typical of the era. Its calm presence is due to a rectangular planked top sitting above an apron, beautifully adorned with two carved drawers opening thanks to their original hardware. Each drawer is decorated with simple yet elegant floral motifs. The ensemble is raised on four turned legs, reminiscent of antique columns. Their majestic presence offers a perfect counterpoint to the elegance of the drawers. A plain side stretcher connects the legs to one another. With the purity of its lines and its lovely patina, this French 1750s table will bring a touch of authenticity to any home, from a library to a living room.
