French Cast Iron & Marble Bistro Table
-
Description
Dimensions: 27 ⅞” H x 43 ⅝” W x 23 ¾” D
This mid-19th century French marble-topped bistro table, circa 1860-1880, borrows from the heraldic devices of the Habsburg Empire by referencing their double-headed eagle with crown motif in the cast iron table base to signify great power and privilege. Designed to be appreciated from the side, the stylized cast iron supports are painted a refreshing shade of turquoise that softens the mythical theme. An inverted “V” forms two legs on each side, intersected by a stretcher rod–terminating at the floor in little feet. This impressive and historic table would make an exciting addition to a patio or kitchen. The stone slab is well patinated–consistent with age and type of use–with discoloration and etched top surface. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. -
