French gilt bronze and malachite centre table
French, 20th Century
Height 79cm, diameter 69cm
This very elegant 20th century French centre table is supported by an ornate Empire-style ormolu base and topped by a vibrant malachite top. Framing the vibrant green top is an ormolu egg and dart frieze.
The three legs on which the table stands are of a tapering form terminating in scrolls and prominent lion paw feet. The upper sections of the legs are cast to depict winged caryatids, all joined to the central feature with scrolling foliate garlands. A plethora of motifs adorn the ormolu base, including acanthus leaves.
Celebrating the beautiful Empire style, this centre table can be displayed alone or used to showcase other precious decorative objects. -
