French Louis XVI Period 1790s Farm Table with Sliding Panels and Carved Heart
-
Description
A French Louis XVI period wooden farm table from the late 18th century, with sliding panels, carved heart, turned legs and H-Form cross stretcher. Created in France during the last quarter of the 18th century, this wooden farm table features a rectangular planked top with nicely weathered appearance, sitting above an unusual apron. Carved in the center with a heart motif suggesting this table may have been a wedding gift, the apron showcases two sliding panels replacing the traditional drawers one might find on such pieces. The table is raised on four elegant turned legs with rectangular block joints, connected to one another through an H-Form stretcher aiming at strengthening the ensemble. Raised on petite bun feet, the table boasts a beautiful rustic character. With its clean lines, nice proportions and unusual sliding panels, this French Louis XVI period farm table circa 1790 will make for a wonderful addition to any living room or large breakfast area!.
